Movies..

Deception

interesting enough.. i learned about a modern culture of human behavior from the movie.

if you remember the statements, "that's the rule... intimacy without the intricacies... don't ask any questions. not even names.."

oh gosh.. humans.. basic instincts.. lust.. the cravings for intimacy..

what is right and what is wrong? who's the ultimate judge? who's entitled to judge? who decides if your actions and behaviors are good or bad?

a question though.. why did the bad guy appear so good afterall? and i don't really feel a sense of hatred against him even knowing he's planning all the deceptions and so didn't the good guy appear to hate him too. and despite his intentions to kill in order to survive after his plans worked imperfectly or whatever you call it.. gosh the movie is deceptive.. makes my mind spin a little..

and hmm.. intimacy.. is nonverbal communication the most natural and comfortable communication humans need and desire afterall? intimacy doesn't have to mean sex or perhaps the mild making of love.. but body contact.. is it something you only do with your closest companion or spouse or parents or your children; or something that you actually wanted to do with even strangers that you simply feel comfortable with? it's complicated.. but it feels right.. afterall we humans are animals too. we behave like animals but in a more pleasant and respectful way.. weird.. beautiful.. what does a touch mean to another person? what is love has to entail a rigid commitment or a black and white contract of engagement and obligations? hmm..

"intimacy without the intricacies.." and so it is.. it makes good sense. vested feelings in another soul makes us unlike us.. it makes people fragile and weak doesn't it sometimes? what does intimacy has to do with loyalty and obligations? is "intimacy without the intricacies" ethically right or wrong?

it's not exactly a brilliant movie but i think it's a pleasant watch. it makes me think and i like that. =)

The Day The Earth Stood Still

fair enough.. expected.. nothing great nothing exceptional.. and sad to say keanu reeves is getting boring.. i think his image is way too pleasant.. you kinda know that the movie won't get cool having him casted in it.. too bad..

there was this scene which i felt a little weird and a little annoyed with though.. not sure exactly why but it's a little irritating and a little intimidating, and a little stupid.

when keanu reeves met up with this old chinese guy and discussed about the world?? erm.. well at first i sorta felt like the director was in agreeable terms with the phenomenon that chinese is the undeniable emerging force in the current days.. that's why he insisted the scenes to use a few lines of chinese conversation too, i think.. then again why does it give me a distasteful feeling about it? somehow it sounded annoying and foolish. the chinese statements were kind of blur and pointless.. not to mention that the chinese cast is a complete disaster.. he's definitely not the right cast.. he casted in balls of fury and his image was plain hilarious.. the casting for that particular scene made a fool of the chinese community.. i don't know why i felt disgusted a little but i know i didn't like it. it gave a pinch of insult to the chinese even though it appears it respects that chinese made a dominant stand in the world because of its mass population..

thinking back about the scene where keanu refuses to speak to the secretary of defense of the united states and yet the hilarious character who spoke nonsense.. how disturbing is that.. haha! anyway it's just a movie.. and yea it spoiled the whole movie after that particular scene..

i'll give it a D. the clear message as expected, "time to change to save the world.." nothing innovative or creative about it.. just an okayyy movie..
